# Setting up Your School

Every School is a Literatu Community where learning happens

## About Literatu Communities

Each School in Literatu is referred to as a community. To get your school going, we create a community with base level information around modules in use and community admin accounts. Once the community is established, the school starts taking shape quickly by on-boarding teacher and student accounts, and linking them to classes.

For each school community, there is a simple structure that Literatu implements to deal with access and workflow.

* Schools have administrators – we call them Community Admins. Community Admins have extra access to utilities that manage the school structure – for example, importing school data or adding new teacher accounts.
* Schools have teachers and Head of Departments roles. In our reporting modules, teachers see reporting about their classes, while Heads of Department can see reporting across cohorts and the school.
* Classes are tagged to year levels and subjects.
* Teachers and students belong to one or many classes.

We have several ways to on-board your class, teacher and student information, which we will cover in the next sections.
