# Archiving & Unarchiving Past Year's Classes

Archiving a class will remove classes from the active class list but keep the existing class rosters and all the student work connected to that class. You can restore an archived class at any time if you need to access class content.

When we archive, we prefix the class name with the year, e.g. class **12 English** becomes **2019 12 English.** \
Students will see their archived classes in their 'Completed' screen. The name of the class will contain the year (e.g. 2019 6C). We don't ever remove student work.

#### For School Administrators – Archive all classes in your school:

These instructions cover archiving all of the active classes in the school. This is typically done at the beginning of a school year, **before new classes are added**.

To archive all classes in the school, follow these instructions or watch the video following:

1. Open a web browser and go to [www.literatu.com](http://www.literatu.com).
2. Login with your community administrator account.
3. Click the hamburger menu at the top left of the screen, and select Manage -> Classes <https://www.literatu.com/communities/classes>
4. Click the Setup cog icon near the top right of the screen and click 'Archive all classes".
5. You will be asked for a prefix for the classes that are about to be archived. This is so you can easily differentiate these classes from past archives. We suggest you use the year that the data belongs to as a prefix.
